Spring has sprung. The flowers are in bloom. Let’s play two!
That’s right it’s baseball season folks and to kick off Hi-Top’s reinvigorated MLB baseball coverage we have Hi-Top Top 10 MLB Players to Watch in 2021.
10. Nick Madrigal
Madrigal hit a cool .340 in 29 games last season and looks to make a run at this year’s AL Rookie of the Year spot on a loaded Chicago White Sox team. The South Siders are early favorites to own the AL and Slick Nick is out to prove his 2020 numbers were no fluke. The kid is a hits machine and while some may knock his seeming lack of pop at the plate getting ducks on the pond is the name of the game and Madrigal can quack with the best of them.
9. Bobby Dalbec
Chicks dig the long ball? Well Bobby D.’s got some of the longest balls around. This kid does two things – strike out and hit monster dongs and he’ll the only reason to watch a Red Sox game this year.
8. Ji-Man Choi
I mean c’mon…are you not entertained? If a big dude doing a split doesn’t get you going then I don’t wanna know ya.
7. Bo Bichette
Let’s be honest. The hair is just amazing.
6. Yu Darvish
As the Beastie Boys famously rapped, “Yu Darvish got more pitches than Phyllis Diller.”
5. Juan Soto
Juan Soto has what I like to call a “classic lefty swing”. There’s just something about the way a lefty swings the bat that is unobjectively prettier than a right handed swing. It’s an irrefutable fact that all right handed batters are jealous of lefties.
4. Pete Alonso
Pete Alonso reminds me of 1980s baseball. I like 1980s baseball. I like Pete Alonso.
3. Shohei Ohtani
How long will it last? Who cares just enjoy the hell out of it while it does.
2. Ke’Bryan Hayes
Looking for the Next Tatis? Well Ke’Bryan Hayes has to be at the top of the list. This kid is ELECTRIC. A defensive wiz at third with pop at the plate and speed on the bases. How many tools are there? Cuz Hayes has them all.
1. Fernando Tatis Jr.
Did you really think it would be anyone else?
Bonus Jonas – Hi-Top Top Player Not Worth Watching
Wander Franco
Some people are very high on this kid. The Lil’ Dogg just doesn’t see it. And well frankly you just can’t watch Wander play cuz he got sent down to the Minors.
