The Rewatchables is an enjoyably flawed podcast from The Ringer that basically rehatches why certain movies are “rewatchable” – hence the name. The hosts are Chris Ryan (a Lil’ Dogg fave from way back, this pup has been down with CR since the Spin Magazine days) and film nerd Sean Fennessey. They are usually joined by Ringer Head Honcho Bill Simmons so of course the podcast is riddled with ridiculous conceits like Apex Mountain (your guess is as good as mine as to what this is supposed to mean) and various other fake “awards” that are given to each movie. Overall the whole thing is a worthwhile pleasant commute distraction.
But now there’s a twist!!!!!
They are being joined by the GAWD QUENTIN TARANTINO for three podcasts!!!!!!!
First up was Dunkirk which seems right up QT’s alley so no surprises there.
But next up is apparently the Tony Scott 2010 gem Unstoppable and the Lil’ Dogg is verrrrrrry excited folks!!!!!
Unstoppable stars Chris Pine and Denzel Washington as two dudes attempting to stop a runaway train.
That’s it. That’s the movie.
And it is AWESOME.
This movie is liquid Tony Scott mixed with peak Denzel and injected straight into your eyeballs.
And now QT is going to talk about it!!!!
If you’ve never heard Tarantino talk about movies then you really are missing out. The dude is a human film encyclopedia. You don’t need to be any type of film buff to appreciate someone with this level of knowledge discussing an art form they truly love.
Now there is a Tarantino-Scott connection of course. Tony Scott directed the Tarantino penned True Romance and all the fingers are crossed that he dives into that pulp classic at least a little bit. But this pup is truly thrilled to hear what Quentin has to say about Unstoppable.
Unstoppable is the quintessential “TBS action movie” that can be run on cable TV any Saturday afternoon from now until eternity. There’s no sex, no nudity, very little actual violence and probably only one or two cuss words that would even need to be dubbed. Yet it’s also thrilling and hilarious and features several truly outstanding performances.
Dawson kicks major ass in this movie and mostly all she does is yell at people through a headset.
Human Baby Huey. Hilarious as always.
Denzel & Pine
The world needs more Denzel & Pine together. Chemistry for days. How these two haven’t done a blockbuster buddy cop movie yet is unfathomable.
Ned! Ned wins this movie.
And so so so many more. You have the amazing Kevin Corrigan as the train Inspector. You have TJ Miller before he was a terrible human.
And the piece de resistance – The Stanton Curve
One day God willing Missus Dogg will allow this pup to take a trip to the real Stanton Curve in Bellaire, Ohio.
This is going to be a good one folks. A late Christmas present to the Lil’ Dogg himself. Quentin Tarantino talking about Unstoppable. What a time to be alive.
