Short Answer: Yes!
Gordo had his best game of the season in a Celtics 115-102 win over Minnesota.
Hayward looked confident, poised and in control all night:
This is by far Hayward’s best game of the season and comes off the back of arguably his worst game of the season against San Antonio. Last nights 35 point performance was Gordo’s second 30+ point game of the season, the other being against…you guessed it…the Minnesota Timberwolves!
All this begets our original inquiry – Should Gordon Hayward only play against the Minnesota Timberwolves?
In a perfect world this would be possible however in our reality (or at least the reality that the Lil’ Dogg is currently typing this in, in which this pup is the World’s Greatest and Most Humble Blogger of Sport) the Celtics, alas, do not play the Timberwolves again this season.
It would be a bold strategy to sit Hayward for the remainder of the regular season and the chances of meeting the T-Wolves in the NBA Finals are pretty slim, maybe like 65% at best. I’m no mathematician, though I have played one on TV (a really great episode of Numbe3s from 2008 that you should track down. The Lil’ Dogg plays a Rogue Math Genius hell bent on World Domination and only the combined power of Rob Morrow and David Krumholtz can stop me, it’s really the tops I tell ya.
Anyhoo, I suppose Coach Brad can’t sit Hayward until the next Minnesota matchup but maybe they could just tell Gordo the Celtics are playing the Timberwolves every night….
