Happy Monday Hi-Toppers!
Listen up folks. We understand that members of “Patriot Nation” might still be hurting from yesterday’s loss. And that’s understandable. We here at Hi-Top HQ are nothing if not empathetic people.
But you have to understand that yesterday’s defeat was for a cause greater than a mere football game.
Because the most exciting (and underused) play in football – The Lateral – is HAVING A MOMENT!
*Trigger Warning*
Look away if you must but here is the game ending play by the Miami Dolphins:
It’s just so glorious!
Now look, we aren’t here to debate The Genius Bill Belicheck and His Genius decision to place his injury prone Tight End as the last line of defense on the final play of the game. And we’ll let Le Cap loose on Gostkowski whenever he is ready. We are just here to celebrate two absolutely beautiful laterals.
Hi-Top has been on the forefront of The Lateral Movement for decades now. We have consistently lobbied for an increase in lateral usage.
“Embrace The Lateral!” we have shouted from rooftops across this great gridiron of ours, from sea to shining sea. We’ve mourned the death of the Triple Option. We decried the RPO as a False Flag narrative.
“Sharing is Caring” we are taught as children yet football coaches continue to ignore this most basic life lesson.
Sure there is risk in downfield laterals but hey you take a risk just getting out of bed in the morning. But you still do it don’t you?
In the immortal words of John Lennon –
๐ผ๐ผ๐ผ๐ผ๐ผ๐ผ๐ผ
“Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing (the football) all the world, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us (to lateral the football)
And the world will be as one”
