Hi-Top Top 5 – Hootie Songs

As reported earlier today by Le Cap Hootie & the Blowfish are BACK!

Cap & the Dogg don’t always agree (see Saban, Nick) and that’s okay. In fact it just might be the secret sauce in the Big Mac that is Hi-Top but on certain things we are in complete agreement. And topping that list just might be the underrated greatness of Hootie & the Blowfish.

The Fish have endured 20 years of backlash and jokes but facts is facts and the fact is Cracked Rearview might be the greatest Bar Band Rock Record of all-time. The album is chock full of sing-along rockers. And the rest of the Hootie catalog ain’t bad either.

Hi-Top Top 5 Hootie & the Blowfish Songs

5. Hanna Jane

This rocker kicks off Cracked Rearview with a bang and let’s you know just what you are in for – good ol’ fashioned boot stomp in’ beer drinkin’ bar band rock & roll.

4. Only Wanna Be With You

Great song, even better video. It’s just that simple.

3. Let Her Cry

“So I sat back down and had a beer and felt sorry for myself…”

All-time lyric right there. If you didn’t knock back a few beers and shed a few tears in the mid 90s to this gut-wrencher were you really alive?

2. Hold My Hand

This is the best John Cougar Mellencamp song that Johnny Cougar never wrote. This is just pure American Rock right here.

1. I Go Blind

Pretty sure this song came out on the Friends Soundtrack after the infamous “The One Where Monica goes to the Hootie concert” episode. Either way it’s a stone cold jam. It’s got swing. It’s got groove. It’s funky and you can dance to it. Darius digs in hard and the vocals are top notch. This is a 10 out of 10 Rock N Roll song.
