Bruins keep on Rolling!

The Bruins training is rolling full steam ahead and you should all jump on board. This team is good. After a small hiccup the other day against the Buffalo Sabers, the Big Bad Bruins have won two in a row. They now sit one game behind Tampa Bay and Las Vegas for overall league lead in points with 2 games in hand.

Last nights saw the Calgary Flames come into town. Calgary has some Boston connections with old friend Dougie Hamilton (wouldn’t you just go by Doug after the 3rd grade? ) and former BC stud, Johnny Gaudreau (see note about Dougie!)

Riley Nash kept the Bruins in game early, scoring the Bruins first two goals of the night. This one on a great passing play. Editorial note: Listen to Andy Brickley on this. He calls it “Vintage McAvoy”. How is this ‘Vintage” when the kids been in the league for less than half a season? Not only is Brickley a douche in real life, he drives me crazy as a color guy.  No idea why he gets NBC national games….him and his stupid lisp.

Moving on…..After tying the game the Bruins never looked back. 2017-18 future league MVP Patrice Bergeron scored 2 goals and Big Z added an empty net to seal the win. I’ve been saying for years that Bergeron is the best overall player in the league. He may never win the scoring title, but its hard to argue he is not the best 2 way player on the planet. He has been on fire this season. He has 18 goals in last 19 games. Has 51 points in 50 games and is an amazing +/-  + 24 as a first line center. (Sydney Crosby is a -6. )

Tuukka Rask improves to 23-9-4 on the season and is 5th in the league with a 2.11 GAA and 8th overall with a .925 save %. My cousin Joey, an avid Tuukka hater, is not happy about this. Goes against everything Mite hockey taught him 40 years ago.

Tuukka and Khudobin are the front runners for the Jennings Trophy, given to the goalies with the goalies with least amount of goals scored on them. Tuukka has given up 77 in in 37 games and Khudobin 44 in 20 game. cut

Next up on the schedule, The team flies to Vancouver to face the Canucks on the 17th. They stay in western Canada for the next 3 games to play Vancouver, Calgary again and Edmonton.
