Hi-Topper Top 5 – Super Bowl Moments

The two weeks between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl are a slow build (or a slow drag if your team isn’t involved) with the first week especially being a whole lotta nuthin. So let your friends at Hi-Top fill the void with our patented award winning content.

First up, the Top 5 Hi-Topper Approved Super Bowl Moments.

These are not your run of the mill SB moments you would expect on a typical non-Hi-Topper list. We don’t roll like that. No game winning kicks or highlight reel catches. That’s boring. Let’s take a look back at the really good stuff.

5. Thurman Thomas Can’t Find His Helmet

The Buffalo Bills started Super Bowl XXVI without their star Running Back Thurman Thomas because he could not locate his helmet on the Bills sideline. Not a great way to start a game and in the end it turned out to be an omen for things to come as the Bills took a beating from Washington losing 37-24.

4. Leon Lett Fumbles a Sure Thing Touchdown

With a Cowboys victory well in hand Leon Lett seemed destined for Super Bowl glory returning a fumble 64 yards for a TD. That is until all-time hustle no quit scrappy WR Don Beebe has his say, chasing down Lett and causing a touchback. In a career full of Dunce Cap moments this stands as Lett’s crowning achievement.

3. The Fridge Goes Over the Top

Not a pleasant memory for Patriot Nation here but most definitely an all-time SB moment. The Fridge was a cultural phenomenon in 1985 so a cherry on top Super Bowl TD was enough to send the Fridge to the height of 80s pop culture (a featured spot with WWF wresting of course). The Lil’ Dogg is still bitter about this one but not as a Pats Fan. No I’m still pissed Sweetness was denied the TD. Now that man deserved his Super Bowl moment.

2. John Elway gets Spun like a Top

For my money I’d still pick Elway as the guy I’d want with the ball in his hands and a chance to win. He did more with less than any other QB in NFL history (agree to disagree but the Lil’ Dogg is always right) but this moment was just pure fun. Who doesn’t love when a guy gets flipped or spun. Wheeeeeee!!!!!

1. The Night the Lights Went Out in New Orleans

There really is nothing like a technical glitch during a live event. Something as simple as the lights being on or off throws the whole world into a mass state of confusion. It’s the simple pleasures in life that you have to appreciate and if you can’t find the joy in sports broadcasters fumbling their way through 30 minutes of not knowing what the hell to say or do, well then you just don’t understand fun.
