Hi-Topper Top 5 – Christmas Carol Adaptations

Charlie Dickens wrote a stone cold literary classic with A Christmas Carol. It’s a story that’s managed to stay relevant for a 150 years and it’s basic plot is so malleable that it’s probably the most adapted story of all time.

There’s some great Christmas Carol adaptations and some not so great ones. These of course are the undebatable unimpeachable Top 5.

5. WKRP In Cincinnati

What’s a radio station? I’m sure that’s what Hi-Topper of a younger age are asking but if you’re not familiar with Dr. Johnny Fever, Venus Flytrap, Les Nessman and the rest of the gang you really missed out. In this take on the classic tale, Scrooge is Station Manager Mr. Carlson. He eats one of Johnny Fever special brownies and dreams about the way he treats the KRP staff.

4. Family Ties

Of course Alex needs a lesson in the Christmas spirit and who better to give it to him than his sisters Mallory and Jennifer.

3. Mickey’s Christmas Carol

Controversial choice here as a lot of people at Hi-Top HQ wanted the Mouse House to grab the top spot. It’s not a matter of Mickey not bringing the goods. Mickey delivers it’s just the top two are that good.

2. Scrooged

You had me at Bill Murray.

1. Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol

Before Mickey there was Magoo. This is the OG pop culture adaptation. Magoo is the perfect Scrooge.

Facts is facts. This is the list. Learn it. Love it.

Merry Christmas to all. Especially all the Tiny Tims out there.
