Utah Jazz Rook Donovan Mitchell dropped a cool 41 last night on the ‘Cans. Peep the highlights:
The 13th pick out of Louisville, Mitchell has shown the ability to produce Offense in a variety of ways from dribble drives to three point bombs, from working of the pick & roll to getting creative on his own and every thing else in between.
Last night he hit half of his 12 three point attempts and shot a relatively efficient 13-25 overall from the floor. For the year he’s averaging 16 a game.
While other rookies Ben Simmons, Jayson Tatum and Lavar Ball’s oldest son have grabbed the headlines so far this season Mitchell has been quietly improving all season leading the Jazz to a surprising 12-11 record. The odds on assumption after losing Gordon Hayward was that the Jazz would be in full on tankathon mode.
Well with Mitchell leading the charge the tank is off and the Jazz are competing on a nightly basis.
Most observers had Simmons already walking off with Rookie of the Year honors but Donovan Mitchell is out in Utah yelling “Not so fast my friends” and a few more 40 Point night’s could certainly turn his lonely yell to a full on chorus chanting his name. So keep an eye on #45.
